We've refreshed our website, take a look around!

Today is an exciting day for TIFF: we announced the first slate of #TIFF16 films and published a major update to our website, The films speak for themselves. But we thought we'd take this opportunity to share some of the thinking behind the site refresh; and also ask for your help as we continue working to improve the experience.

Why did we decide to redesign and rebuild

A number of reasons, but the biggest one was, well... you. We've been hearing from our audience that our site did not always make it easy to find what you're looking for: information about screenings and Festivals, news and stories from the world of film, and everything you need to know to enjoy TIFF in September and throughout the year. The new version will strive to solve many of those problems, simplifying navigation and giving everything a home.

You'll notice that there's a BETA tag at the top of the site. That will stay up there for a while we keep working away toward a reimagined

Launching this in its simplest form allows us to think of this as an iterative refresh rather than a large overhaul and it better enables us to focus on our three goals:

Our Goals

  • Keep it simple, make it easy. We rethought how we gather and display information about ourselves and our programming. The result? A more contained, easier-to-navigate website.
  • Share TIFF 365 days a year. We started out as a film festival, and that's still central to who we are. But we also deliver exceptional programming, films, and events every day of the year. We’re hoping you discover what is happening at TIFF Bell Lightbox daily and maybe even find something you didn’t know you wanted.
  • Tell more stories. One thing we've heard from our audience is that they look to us for news and insights from the world of film. The new site includes "The Review," a whole section dedicated to sharing those stories.
