NEW ADMISSION POLICY
Ontario Film Review Board (OFRB) and the Film Classification Act
Many of the films screening at TIFF Cinematheque are now classified by the Ontario Film Review Board (OFRB). What this means is that the rich selection of films screened at TIFF Cinematheque, representing the height of film culture from around the world, will now become more readily accessible to a wider audience. This development is very much in keeping with the TIFF's ongoing commitment to youth education, and ultimately contributes to the aim of cultivating a new generation of film enthusiasts that recognizes and values the immense historical and cultural significance of the medium. We look forward to providing a greater opportunity for the young cinephiles of the future to discover the artistic merit and aesthetic power of the cinema.
Patrons please note: Readers will notice that we are using film classifications provided by the Ontario Film Review Board (OFRB) at the end of some film descriptions on this website. Films which have been classified by the OFRB will have the corresponding rating, and content advisory, if applicable, noted at the end of their description. Films that have not been classified by the OFRB are restricted to those 18 years of age or older. Please see below for a statement from the OFRB and a list of the ratings symbols which appear next to film descriptions. Not all ratings are available at the time our programme guide goes to print; please ask box office staff or check this website for updated film ratings throughout the season.

SECURITY
Secure Web Server
TIFFemploys a Secure Server using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption for the secure exchange of data between the patron and our system. The system supports both 40bit, 56bit and 128bit SSL encryption on virtually all browsers.
The website transactions are secured using a Thawte SCG Digital Certificate. This ensures that all information you send to us via the World Wide Web will be encrypted. If any other Internet user intercepts the communication he/she will only be able to see it in an encrypted (garbled) form. Certificate technology allows us to decrypt the information, and view it in plain text form. For more information on SSL digital certificates for web servers please click here.
The SGC SuperCert is thawte's strongest encryption certificate. It automatically steps up protection to a minimum of 128-bit encryption even if your customers use older browsers (IE 4.X or Netscape 4.06 and later) which have limited 40-bit or 56-bit encryption capabilities. 256-bit encryption can be enabled if your client's browser capability and the cipher suite installed on your web server are both 256-bit compatible.
Firewall The web server resides behind a dedicated Firewall in a separate secure network. This protects and isolates the Toronto International Film Festival Group's web server.
Credit Card Numbers No credit card information is maintained on our web server. Once a transaction is completed, the information is retained only on an offline server.
Private Processing Network Once we receive all required information from the patron, the transaction is processed with the banks over private digital lines, not via the Internet.
Risk Management System Our transaction system provides many other elements of security and risk management as part of basic service including protection against fraudulent credit card number generators, redundant accidental transactions, and more.
